What Is Thermage FLX?

Thermage FLX is a procedure that uses monopolar radiofrequency energy to induce collagen changes in the skin, helping to improve elasticity and wrinkles. Energy is delivered through a tip that contacts the skin, and for facial treatment, cooling and vibration functions are used to help reduce discomfort during the procedure.

What Are the Features of Thermage FLX?

Radiofrequency That Induces Collagen Change

Radiofrequency energy delivers heat to the tissue, and through the subsequent process of collagen remodeling, the skin is expected to appear smoother and firmer. Actual response varies depending on skin condition and the treatment plan.

AccuREP Automatic Compensation Technology

FLX incorporates AccuREP, an automatic compensation technology for energy delivery. Along with this feature, the physician monitors the treatment area and skin response as the procedure proceeds. The automatic compensation feature does not guarantee results or safety for everyone.

Cooling and Vibration Functions for Facial Treatment

Cooling helps protect the surface of the skin, and vibration is used to reduce discomfort during the procedure. Brief, hot sensations may repeat during treatment, and pain levels vary by individual. Vibration is not applied to eye-area treatments where eye protection is used, and the appropriate method is followed for each treatment area.

When Should This Be Considered?

  • When the skin feels looser and less elastic than before
  • When fine lines together with overall skin smoothness are a concern
  • When you want to support skin elasticity without incisions or injections

The degree of sagging, facial volume, and skin thickness are checked together. If hollowing is pronounced or sagging is significant, the need for other procedures is also considered.

When Does the Effect Begin, and How Long Does It Last?

Immediately after the procedure, you may feel your skin tightening, and afterward, changes in elasticity and wrinkles may gradually appear over about 2–6 months.

Effects may last about 1–2 years, but this varies depending on skin condition, aging, and lifestyle habits. The timing of any additional treatment is determined after checking the actual changes.

How Is the Procedure Performed?

  • Elasticity, wrinkles, facial volume, and prior treatment history are checked.
  • The tip and treatment area are planned according to skin condition and concerns.
  • Energy is delivered while checking heat sensation and skin response as the procedure proceeds.
  • After the procedure, skin condition is examined and recovery and aftercare guidance is provided.

Treatment time varies depending on the area, number of shots, and preparation process. The visit schedule is arranged with consideration for the necessary preparation time, including consultation and anesthesia.

Recovery and Precautions

Most people can return to daily life quickly, but redness, swelling, or pain may occur. Rarely, burns/blisters, pigment changes, irregularities on the skin surface, or changes in sensation may occur.

If blisters, severe pain, or abnormalities in sensation or movement occur after the procedure, please contact the clinic. If redness and swelling worsen, or recovery is slow, it is also advisable to have your condition checked.

If you use a pacemaker or other internal electronic device, you cannot receive this procedure. Please inform us of pregnancy/breastfeeding, underlying conditions, and any history of filler or thread-lifting treatments during your consultation. For areas with prior treatment, the plan is made after checking the product used, timing, and skin condition.

Eye Thermage

At WayB, Eye Thermage is performed using a dedicated eye tip suited to the eye-area skin.

What Kind of Procedure Is Eye Thermage?

Eye Thermage is a procedure that uses the dedicated eye tip of Thermage FLX to address fine lines and reduced elasticity in the eye-area and eyelid skin. A dedicated tip suited to this narrow, delicate area is used, and the treatment area is determined after checking the thickness and degree of sagging of the eye-area skin.

How Is This Different From Facial Thermage?

The principle of using radiofrequency energy is the same, but the tip used, the treatment area, and the eye protection procedure differ. For eyelid treatment, a dedicated eye tip and appropriate eye protection are used. It is not a method in which a regular facial tip is applied directly to the eyelid.

What Concerns Is This Considered For?

It may be considered when fine lines around the eyes or mild loss of elasticity in the eyelid skin are a concern. Hollowing around the eyes, fat protrusion, and problems with eye-opening function have different causes, so these are distinguished during consultation and an appropriate method is recommended.

What Should Be Monitored During Recovery?

Temporary redness, swelling, or discomfort may occur after the procedure. If eye pain or vision changes occur, you should receive an immediate evaluation by the physician. If skin burns/blisters occur or pain worsens, please notify the clinic right away as well.

Frequently asked questions about Thermage FLX
FAQ
A.

If your main concern is loose skin along with fine lines or skin texture, Thermage is considered; if sagging in the cheeks and jawline is the main concern, Ultherapy PRIME is considered. If both concerns are present, the two procedures may be combined, since they act mainly on different layers and use different energy delivery methods. They can even be performed on the same day, with the order, area, and intensity determined according to skin condition.

A.

Brief, hot sensations may repeat. Cooling and vibration functions are used, and the procedure proceeds while checking the sensations you feel. The pain management approach is determined according to the treatment area and individual sensitivity.

A.

There is a slight tightening sensation immediately afterward, and the actual change appears gradually over 2–6 months.

A.

Typically, progress is checked after a single treatment. Effects can last roughly 1–2 years, though skin condition, aging, and lifestyle habits all play a part, and any additional treatment is timed to the changes seen in elasticity and wrinkles.

A.

Thermage is generally not a procedure that causes cheek hollowing. An area is not avoided simply because the cheek is already hollow; the design takes skin thickness and facial volume into account together. In some cases, temporary skin contraction after the procedure may make existing hollowing appear more pronounced, so the procedure is performed only after thorough consultation. If new depressions or asymmetry persist or worsen, your condition should be checked at the clinic.

You can check the authenticity certification and the number of remaining shots together on the tip packaging and the equipment display.
