WAYB TREATMENT
Shoulder Filler
Shoulder Filler uses hyaluronic acid filler to refine the shoulder line, taking into account the proportions and any asymmetry of the neck, collarbones, and shoulders. We first assess shoulder slope, muscle condition, and your desired silhouette. During consultation, we discuss the product, injection volume, and whether to combine treatment with trapezius botulinum toxin injections. Results and recovery vary by product, treatment area, and individual.
What Determines the Shoulder Line?
Even with the same procedure, results differ because starting points differ. WayB checks three things first.
- Neck length and collarbone line — Determines whether the neck looking short is due to lack of shoulder volume or trapezius tension.
- Shoulder slope and left-right difference — Often differs between the two sides due to bag-carrying habits and posture.
- Trapezius condition — If the muscle is well-developed or tension is high, filler alone will not achieve the desired line.
Procedure Sequence
Stage 3 is especially important. If volume is added to the shoulder alone while the trapezius is well-developed, the line may look thicker. In this case, the muscle is addressed first before deciding on volume.
Who Is It Suitable For?
- An impression of a short neck and raised-looking shoulders
- A case where the collarbone line appears buried
- A case where left-right shoulder height difference is a concern (if the cause is posture, muscle, or skeletal structure, it may not be a candidate for filler, so this is evaluated first)
- Those who want a clear, well-defined shoulder line like “right-angle shoulders”
- Those who want to refine the face-neck-shoulder proportions more in balance because the shoulders look narrow
Things to Check Before the Procedure
- If the cause is trapezius development: Botulinum Toxin is considered first.
- Acute inflammation or wounds on the shoulder/arm
- A state of high bleeding risk, such as pregnancy/breastfeeding or taking anticoagulants
- Occupations that frequently lift heavy objects: whether to combine trapezius Botulinum Toxin must be judged carefully.
When Does the Effect Start, and How Long Does It Last?
- Immediately after: The change in shape is visible right away, but it is mixed with swelling.
- 1–2 weeks: Swelling subsides and the actual line appears. Whether a touch-up is needed is judged at this point.
- It varies depending on the product, volume, area, and individual response — we walk you through the specifics for the product you’ll be using before the procedure.
Because the shoulder has a large surface area, the volume tends to be larger than for the face. It is important not to exceed the necessary range.
Recovery and Precautions
- Swelling 3–7 days, bruising 7–14 days. A 2-week buffer is recommended before important events.
- Avoid saunas, strenuous exercise, and alcohol for 48 hours.
- Avoid carrying a heavy bag on or applying strong pressure to the treated area for several days.
Side Effects of Injection Procedures
Fillers can cause bruising, swelling, pain, asymmetry, nodules, and vascular complications; Botulinum Toxin can cause muscle weakness and difficulty with movement. Symmetry or change in neck length is not guaranteed, and prior consultation and guidance are required.
Please Contact the Clinic If
- The treated area becomes severely swollen or pain continues to worsen
- A noticeable left-right difference is felt
- It becomes difficult to raise the arm or move the shoulder
- Skin discoloration or a sensation of heat/fever occurs
How WayB Approaches This
- We look at the neck-collarbone-shoulder proportions and the volume needed together to determine the target line.
- If the trapezius is well-developed, instead of simply increasing filler, we suggest an order that addresses the muscle first.
- We explain in advance the changes and limits achievable with a single procedure, and provide guidance on the product to be used. The volume used may vary as we check the tissue condition and balance during the actual procedure.
