What Is Radiesse?
Radiesse is an injectable product composed of CaHA (calcium hydroxylapatite) microspheres and the gel that carries them. It can be used for volume correction, and CaHA also has the characteristic of stimulating collagen production by interacting with fibroblasts in the skin.
Fibroblasts are cells that produce collagen and other components that maintain the skin’s structure. Radiesse can be considered for managing skin elasticity and structure by making use of this cellular response.
The dilution method and injection plan vary depending on the purpose of treatment and skin condition. We first confirm whether volume correction is needed or whether skin elasticity management is the main focus, and proceed with treatment accordingly.
What Are the Characteristics of Radiesse?
CaHA Microspheres and Carrier Gel
Radiesse has a structure in which CaHA microspheres are dispersed in a gel. Treatment is planned considering both the initial changes that appear after injection and the tissue response that develops over time.
Stimulating Collagen Production
CaHA stimulates fibroblasts in the skin to help produce collagen. The extent and timing of actual skin changes vary by individual.
Treatment Planning According to Purpose
Even with the same product, the goal and course of treatment can differ depending on whether it is diluted, how it is diluted, and the injection volume and site. Planning takes into account the degree of hollowing, skin thickness, and reduced elasticity together.
Is This a Volumizing Treatment or a Skin Elasticity Treatment?
Radiesse can be used for volume correction, and depending on skin condition and treatment purpose, it may also be diluted for use. The injection plan differs between correcting facial hollowing and managing elasticity over a wide area of skin. The treatment purpose is determined first according to your goals, and the initial changes and subsequent course are explained.
Who Is It Suitable For?
- Those who want to correct facial hollowing and wrinkles together
- Those whose skin has loosened and needs elasticity management
- Those who want to consult on whether volume change or skin elasticity management is needed
- Those considering a treatment with a different ingredient from hyaluronic acid filler
What to Check Before Treatment
It is not used in thin, highly mobile areas such as the lips or under the eyes. Please inform us of any inflammation or infection at the treatment site, autoimmune disease, history of keloids, or pregnancy/breastfeeding status. If an immediate and finely detailed shape change is the goal, a hyaluronic acid filler may also be considered.
How Is It Different from Other Treatments?
How Are Effects and Repeat Treatments Planned?
Initial changes vary depending on the treatment purpose — volume correction or skin elasticity management — and the dilution method. Afterward, the tissue response resulting from CaHA’s stimulation of collagen production is observed.
Radiesse is generally planned for 1–2 sessions as a reference, but the plan is adjusted based on whether volume correction or skin elasticity management is the main focus, and on the dilution method and actual response. The number of sessions needed and any additional treatment are determined based on product guidance and consultation findings.
Recovery and Precautions
Radiesse differs in composition from hyaluronic acid filler, so it cannot be dissolved in the same way using the enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid. Swelling, bruising, pain, and nodules may occur, and although rare, serious complications from intravascular injection are also possible. If severe pain, skin color change, or visual disturbance occurs after treatment, medical evaluation should be sought immediately.
Please do not press or massage the injection site strongly on your own, and follow the individual aftercare instructions provided after treatment. If a hard lump, redness, warmth, or pain develops, please let the clinic know.
How WayB Approaches This
- We first distinguish between the purposes of volume correction and skin elasticity management, then determine the dilution method and injection plan.
- Because this product is difficult to reverse, we start with a conservative dose and consider further treatment after assessing your response.
- We do not use it in areas with a high risk of nodules, such as the lips or under the eyes.
- We provide recovery care guidance suited to skin condition and treatment purpose.
